I will print a few to see what I’m getting before and after Neat Image. I send most of them to SmugMug for the other parents to download. I haven’t printed out any of the pictures yet. Some of the gymnasiums have large windows and during the day the lighting may not be too bad, but in the evening most gyms have terrible light. Occasionally I will push my ISO to 1600 or 3200 in order to increase my shutter speed for indoor volleyball, gymnastics and for school plays & talent shows. It's usually twice what is needed (if at all). Then you can better gauge how much noise reduction you need. Just for fun, take your noisiest image and print it out. I'd like to see why you need Neat Image in the first place. You can't add Neat Image to the window that says open a copy in CS. Incorporating it into a Lightroom workflow? Save as a tiff and drag it to NI stand alone. Heck it's not even installed on my machine right now, just the wife's. I can t recall the last time I used Neat Image. For lager batches (100+ files) I could just let it run the entire batch while I’m working on another project or reading POTN. It may not be noticeable, but since it really doesn’t take that much more time for a few images, it’s not really a problem. If I export an image from Lightroom as a high quality JPEG and run Neat Image then export the filtered image to a new high quality JPEG then I think I run the risk of reducing overall image quality. Second I want to avoid compressing the photo into JPEG twice. First I want Neat Image to use as much information as possible when filtering and creating the new image. I have two reasons for taking the extra steps (and extra time) to export in TIFF. But more often than not, I am only exporting 10 to 20 images and it doesn’t take that long. I think it also increases the overall image processing time in Neat Image as well. I must admit, exporting large quantities of 16bit TIFF files can take some time (at least on my machine).
